Afghanistan is in India's neighbourhood. India doesn't support the sixth century practices of Taliban (the Afghan people knows it better), but is forced to have talks with them out of pragmatism. 


There's a reason why Kissinger, a notorious India hater, in one of his last interviews gave India as the answer to the question about the country that he thinks has the best diplomacy. We have cordial relations with USA, Russia, Iran, Saudi, Israel....(basically every country except China and Pakistan).

I'd argue that most modern governments started off as, or at least worked alongside, some sort of terrorist group

This is very weird but again when it comes to geopolitics there's no permanent friends or enemies. Taliabn's 6th century practices do not align with India's values but I believe India is seriously pissed off at Pakistani efforts to keep their terrorists under control. I read these guys have touched on a lot of issues, terrorism being one of them. India being India doesn't give a shit about anyone but themselves but Afghanis and Indians (general population) is a textbook definition of bromance. India will continue to develop Afghanistan further but I am sure it comes at the cost of Taliban intel India will use to target terrorists in Pakistan. So maybe a practical move by India? I dont know I am still confused lol.

India’s diplomacy is so GOATed, 6 months ago, they were not on talking terms with China and absolute friends with US AND Russia at the same time. 

Then, when Pakistan attacked, they retaliated in an absolutely proportionate matter. Following this, when US tried to arm-twist India into submitting under threats of Tariffs, not only did it stand, it built back the BRICS alliance and openly challenged the dollar hegemony. 

All of this in 6 months. 

So basically now, every respectable country is on good geopolitical terms with India.

You know y'all are getting it wrong right? Taliban or not indians are very respected in afganistan due to our diplomatic ties . We are also fiercely loved through iran iraq syria most parts of Russia and middle East! Why? Our govt did good business with them, we have ties that go way way back and our movies made their way to their television. They relate with our customs, emotions and social structure. It makes me sick to my core how everyone thinks that it's the taliban who is appreciating india and it's a bad thing. Frankly their socio economical situation has nothing to do with it. 

I suggest you watch nomadic indians latest syria series to know more about India's influence. India was very widely respected and still is in most parts of asia, that's because we are ancient.
